Old Fashioned History
The Old Fashioned is said to have been first created at the Pendennis Club, a famous gentlemen’s club in Louisville, Kentucky in 1881 in honour of Colonel James E. Pepper – famed bourbon distiller, who then introduced it to New York high society during his frequent visits to the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel bar in New York.

They clearly embraced it, given how the infamous ‘Mad Men’ had such a taste for it 80 years later in the 1960s Manhattan advertising scene. The Old Fashioned has had a makeover or two over its time.  But this smooth, bitter, sweet simplicity of Straight Bourbon Whiskey, traditional Bitters, and sugar cane syrup is a tonic that Don Draper himself would approve of.

Serving Suggestions
Serve Dr Onyx Old Fashioned gently swirled in a short glass over ice, with a twist of orange zest. Pinch the zest so the oils spray over the drink before dropping it into the glass.
